Description: Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), Roorkee, Uttarakhand is organizing two Short Term Courses: (i) Advanced Techniques in Corrosion Testing and Protection of Materials (5 days). This course is designed to educate about the various conventional and advanced techniques available in testing and protection of materials. It will also disseminate the theoretical knowledge essential for understanding and mitigating the corrosion related damages (ii) Essentials of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (5 days). The focus of this short term courses will be to identify frontier problems in nanoscience such as understanding interfacial structures, smart nanosystems, confinement, and self-assembly of hard materials, soft materials and biomaterials which can be elucidated through the use of different experimental techniques. These short term courses will be held from 18 January, 2013 to 22 January, 2013.
